Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Iliya Damagum, has dismissed former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s resignation from the party as a repetitive chapter in its political saga, expressing confidence in his eventual return.
In a Friday interview with journalists in Bauchi, Damagum remarked, “This isn’t new for us; we expect him to come back.”

He emphasized that Atiku’s departure caused no alarm within the PDP, given his history of leaving and rejoining the party multiple times.
Damagum suggested that Atiku’s exit fits a predictable pattern, viewing it as a tactical maneuver rather than a permanent departure.
He attributed the party’s composed reaction to its enduring strength and doubts about the finality of Atiku’s decision.
This response follows reports that Atiku is spearheading the formation of a new political platform, the Alliance for Democratic Congress, aimed at future electoral contests.
