Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL) has announced a major breakthrough in its oil exploration efforts in the northern region of Nigeria.
According to a Director at NNPCL, Mr. Yusuf Usman, the company has successfully drilled four oil wells in the Kolmani area of Bauchi State.
This development underscores NNPCL’s commitment to exploring and developing oil and gas resources in the region.
Usman disclosed this information during the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation’s two-day interactive session on government-citizens engagement held in Kaduna.
He highlighted the company’s progress, stating that NNPCL is currently evaluating the best technology to deploy for the next phase of drilling operations. This careful approach ensures that the company maximizes the potential of its discoveries while minimizing environmental impact.
In addition to its oil exploration efforts, NNPCL is also working to enhance gas supply and accessibility across the northern region.
As part of President Tinubu’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative, five CNG and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants are currently under construction in Kogi.
These plants will significantly improve the availability of gas for industrial and domestic use, driving economic growth and development.
Usman emphasized that these projects are part of NNPCL’s broader commitment to supporting the economic development of Nigeria, particularly in the northern region.
By investing in oil and gas infrastructure, the company aims to create jobs, stimulate economic activity, and contribute to the country’s overall prosperity.
The discovery of oil in Bauchi State is a significant step towards achieving energy security in Nigeria.
With the country’s growing population and increasing demand for energy, developing domestic oil and gas resources is crucial for meeting energy needs and driving economic growth.
