Funeral rite of the slain police constable in Bayelsa
Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of police constable Oboh Goodluck in Bayelsa State, the state’s Police Command announced.
Commissioner of Police, CP Francis Idu, revealed the arrests during the fallen officer’s funeral rites held on Friday in Yenagoa.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Goodluck was fatally attacked on August 19 by suspected cultists in the OMPADEC area of Amarata community while he was on his way to work.
CP Idu emphasized that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other prime suspects involved in the crime.
“We will bring all those responsible to justice,” he assured the grieving family and colleagues.
He also issued a stern warning: “Those who attack police personnel should desist or face the full wrath of the law.”
The Commissioner further reassured police officers that the leadership of the Nigerian Police Force stands firmly behind them and will always defend its personnel.
In a symbolic gesture, Idu announced that the police would submit a formal request to Governor Douye Diri, seeking to designate the scene of Goodluck’s murder as a memorial site in honor of his service.
Comrade Kwokwo Robert, speaking on behalf of the Ayadei/Oboh family, expressed gratitude to the police authorities for their support during the burial process and appealed for swift justice for the slain officer.
