President Bola Tinubu
All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos has strongly rejected claims that the South-West region will turn its back on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Saturday, APC spokesperson Seye Oladejo dismissed recent remarks attributed to supporters of Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a presidential hopeful under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), suggesting that Tinubu would lose support in his home region.
> “The idea that the South-West will abandon President Tinubu is not only laughable — it is politically naive,” Oladejo said.
“We’re not just backing a son of the soil; we’re standing by a leader delivering results.”

Oladejo didn’t hold back in his criticism of Olawepo-Hashim, branding him a “perennial aspirant” who has yet to build any credible political machinery.
> “He may parade endorsements at small rallies and issue statements on photocopied letterheads, but those don’t convert into votes,” Oladejo quipped.
“Should he somehow clinch the PDP ticket — a party in free fall and starved of both capable leadership and resources — he would still suffer a resounding defeat at the polls.”
The APC spokesman said Tinubu’s base remains solid, particularly in the South-West, where loyalty runs deep and the president’s record continues to resonate.
> “This is not about bravado; it’s simple political math,” he noted. “The PDP’s reliance on recycled candidates and emotional appeals won’t mask its glaring shortcomings in governance.”
Oladejo also criticized what he described as attempts by the opposition to downplay the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
> “It’s distasteful to see people caricature this government’s efforts. The administration is building concrete foundations — from infrastructure and education to agriculture, security, and economic reform,” he stated.
He warned that critics often resort to “selective statistics and currency drama” because they have no credible alternative to offer.
> “Nigerians won’t be fooled into trading actual progress for worn-out excuses. We’ve tried the past; it failed.”
*“South-West Loyalty Not for Sale”*
Looking ahead to 2027, Oladejo emphasized that voters in the region would prioritize continuity and proven leadership over what he described as “theatrical ambition without substance.”
> “In the next election, Nigerians — and especially the South-West — will choose direction, stability, and delivery over drama,” he said.
“To those behind the noise: stop insulting the intelligence of Nigerians. Press statements aren’t proof of competence. Leadership is.”
The APC concluded by assuring that President Tinubu’s re-election bid would not only survive opposition alliances but emerge even stronger from them.
