Supreme Court of Nigeria has directed legal practitioners handling appeals and motions scheduled for hearing between September and December 2026 to upload all relevant court processes through the Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS), in line with the Supreme Court Practice Direction, 2026.
The directive was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir E. Akanbi, who said the requirement is aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of the court’s digital case management platform and promoting the timely determination of appeals.
According to the statement, counsel are expected to first confirm whether their matters have been listed for hearing by visiting the Supreme Court’s website, navigating to the Litigation section, selecting the Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS), and downloading the list of appeals and motions fixed for hearing between September and December 2026.
Once a matter has been confirmed on the hearing list, lawyers are required to upload all relevant documents already filed in court through the NCMS.
The documents include the Record of Appeal, Briefs of Argument, pending Motions and every other filed process connected to the case.
The Supreme Court reminded counsel that all required documents must be uploaded not later than thirty (30) days before the scheduled hearing date, in accordance with Rule 10(1) of the Supreme Court Practice Direction, 2026.
The statement urged legal practitioners to comply fully with the directive, noting that adherence to the electronic filing requirement would enhance the efficiency of the Nigerian Case Management System and support the expeditious disposal of cases before the apex court.
