Chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Lau Local Government Area in the November 8 Taraba State council elections, Peter Julius, has pledged to make youth development a top priority in order to complement the efforts of Governor Agbu Kefas.
Julius also promised to work closely with relevant agencies and non-governmental organizations to strengthen the agricultural sector in Lau and position the area as the economic hub of Taraba State.
He made the commitment on Friday during the final round of his campaign in Lau town.
According to him, investing in youth through skills training, empowerment programmes, and sports talent development is central to building a crime-free society and stimulating economic growth capable of placing the local government “on the global map.”
“My intention is to prioritize youth development through skills training and the promotion of sporting talents, in line with the efforts of Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration,” Julius said. “We believe youth development is key to achieving a crime-free society and creating the right environment for sustainable development.
“My desire is also to boost the agricultural capacity of Lau LGA and make it the economic hub of Taraba. I will collaborate with relevant agencies and NGOs to ensure the availability of necessary tools and agro-chemicals to achieve this target.”
Earlier, the Lau PDP chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Ezekiel, and the Director-General of the Peter Julius Campaign Organisation, Mr. Absolom Sayonti, urged residents to support Julius at the polls, stressing that his leadership would reinforce the developmental strides of Governor Agbu Kefas in the local government.
Our correspondent reports that the PDP candidate presented a full set of football jerseys and two FIFA-standard balls to Win-Lau FC as part of his youth engagement initiatives.
