
Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed, on Friday visited Udege Development Area in Nasarawa Local Government Area after a communal attack that resulted in the lost of 11 lives and destruction of property, with several houses burnt in Akyawa and Udege Kasa.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, on Saturday morning, said the incident was a reprisal attack over alleged killing of two kinsmen, with hoodlums carrying out the violent act.
The statement said CP Shetima, has ordered an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators, directing tactical teams to identify, arrest, and prosecute them.

It added that police personnel, military, and NSCDC were deployed to provide adequate security and restore peace in the area.
According to the statement, a meeting was held, urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to support investigations, as the Police reassures that normalcy has been restored, with proactive measures in place to prevent further violence.
On his part, Hon. Onarigu Onah Kana, representing Udege/Loko State Constituency, at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, condemned the incident, describing it as unacceptable.
Hon. Onah, led a delegation to assess the damage and sympathize with victims, calling for increased security presence.
