The surrendered terrorists
Operation HADIN KAI has recorded another major success in its ongoing counter-terrorism campaign with the surrender of two senior terrorist commanders to troops of Sector 2 in Geidam, Yobe State.
The terrorists, identified as Munzirs within the group’s leadership hierarchy, surrendered to troops on July 4, 2026. They were later moved to Maiduguri, arriving at about 7:30 p.m. on July 5, where they are currently in military custody.
The Acting Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed that the surrendered commanders are undergoing detailed profiling, debriefing and intelligence exploitation.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the two commanders occupied key leadership positions within the terrorist organisation and possess extensive knowledge of its operations, command structure and logistics network.
He stated that initial intelligence gathered from their debriefing has already provided valuable information on the terrorists’ operational methods, supply channels and support networks.
The military noted that the intelligence is expected to strengthen ongoing intelligence-driven operations aimed at locating, disrupting and dismantling the remaining terrorist enclaves across the North-East theatre.
Captain Goni described the surrender as another major setback for the terrorist group, adding that it further demonstrates the effectiveness of the sustained offensive operations being carried out by troops of Operation HADIN KAI in collaboration with partner security agencies.
He explained that the sustained military pressure, backed by coordinated land and air operations as well as enhanced intelligence efforts, continues to restrict the terrorists’ movement, weaken their fighting capability and dismantle their command and control structures.
According to the statement, the continuous military offensive has made it increasingly difficult for terrorist leaders and fighters to sustain their activities, forcing many of them to abandon the insurgency and surrender to troops.
The military said the latest surrender further reflects the growing collapse of the terrorist organisation and the cumulative impact of sustained operations across the North-East.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the current operational momentum until all terrorist elements are either neutralised or compelled to surrender.
The statement added that troops will continue to exploit actionable intelligence, intensify offensive operations and work closely with relevant stakeholders to eliminate the terrorist threat and restore lasting peace, security and stability across the North-East.
