Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali
Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has rejoined South African Premier Soccer League side Chippa United, five months after leaving the club by mutual agreement.
The club confirmed his return on Sunday in a post on its official X account ahead of the 2026/2027 season.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome Stanley Nwabali back to the Chilli Boys,” the club wrote.
“After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”
The 30-year-old goalkeeper had parted ways with Chippa United in February 2026 after both sides agreed to end their relationship.
At the time, the club announced, “Chippa United Football Club confirms that Stanley Nwabali has formally submitted a request to depart the club. After careful consideration, the club has agreed to grant his release.”
The Port Elizabeth-based side also praised the Nigerian, saying, “We would like to sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club.
His contribution to the club will always be appreciated.”
Nwabali, who joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022 and rose to prominence after helping Nigeria reach the 2023 AFCON final, had been without a club since his departure, a situation that also affected his place in the Super Eagles squad.
