Police rescue abducted district head in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has said its operatives have rescued the kidnapped district head of Wawa community in Borgu Kingdom, Dr. Mahmud Ahmed Aliyu.

Recalled that Dr. Aliyu, was kidnapped by heavily armed gunmen on Sunday at his palace at about 10pm.

Confirming his release to newsmen on Saturday, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP. Wassiu Abiodun, said that the royal father was rescued on Friday at about 19:30 hours, after a sustained effort of the Police, military and vigilante.

DSP Abiodun noted that traditional ruler is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed facility.
