The Emir of Gaya in Kano State, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdukkadir, has died at the age of 91.

Alhaji Abbas Ibrahim-Gaya, the Chairman, Media, in the Emirate, announced this on Wednesday in Kano.

Ibrahim-Gaya said that the Emir died after a brief illness, adding that the late traditional ruler is survived by three wives, 28 children and many grandchildren.

According to Ibrahim-Gaya, the funeral prayer of the late emir will be conducted at 4 p.m. in the deceased’s palace.

Gaya was among the four newly-created emirates by Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje. The others are Bichi, Rano and Karaye.
