
All the 17 Candidates in the 6 November Anambra governorship election on Thursday signed a peace accord in Awka, the state capital.

The Chairman of the National Peace Committee, General Abdulsalam Abubakar (Rtd) has urged candidates in the Anambra Governorship election to abide by the letter and Spirit of the Peace Accord which they have signed.
Abubakar who stated this in Awka, the Anambra State Capital on Thursday, told candidates that the Peace Accord is not a mere exercise but a clarion call to commit all to a peaceful election.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Professor Mahmood Yakubu said INEC has done all it should to make the electoral process smooth against incredible odds.
He appealed for violence free polls saying if the election is not violence free, the entire electoral process will be undermined. He also urged the candidates to accept the election results.
