Some notable leaders of the entertainment industry in Edo State, performing artistes groups, musicians, cultural ambassadors, film makers, creative industry professionals and others, were unanimous in their declaration that immediate past Minister of State for Budget and National Planning and frontline governorship aspirant in the guber election holding in the state on September 21,2024, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Clem Agba would boost the entertainment and creative business in the state if he was elected as governor of the state.

The assertion was variously made during the “Benin-Igue Culture and Reggae Fiesta One” (BICURF One) extravaganza, which was held during the week, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Centre, in Benin City, the state capital.

The musical fiesta was organised by the Forum for African Renaissance and Reggae Revival (FA-R3).

Speaking as Chairman of the event, Prince Actor Shegun Alile, veteran musician and actor, who is Culture and Arts Ambassador to the Great Benin Kingdom, who was pleased with the stage performance of Prince Agba on the occasion, said that he was elated to confirm what had been said that Agba was a great singer, who also loved music and recreation.

He said he was confident that Agba would encourage the entertainment industry once elected as governor in the said election.

Prince Alile, a founding cast of the famous serio-comedy, Hotel De Jordan, and composer of its famous themen song “Poor Man De Suffer Monkey De Work, Baboon De Chop”, urged all artistes and others in the creative industry and members of the public, who are APC members and election influencers, to ensure that Prince Agba emerged in the party’s primary election and the main election.

He said that it would benefit the people to elect such a socially-inclined and development-driven personality like Agba as Edo State Governor.

Speaking in the same vein, Comrade Willy Eghe Nova, Sole Administrator of the state’s chapter of the Performing Musicians/Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), said that with Agba, a well-known singer, music and art collector as a governor, entertainers and the industry were going to be better for it, adding that Edo State would become the hub of Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

While stressing the need for artistes and performing groups to use their public-influences to “see that Agba gets the APC ticket and wins the election,” he noted that Agba had been exemplary in the numerous projects he attracted to the state as a former commissioner and minister.

Earlier on, Comrade Tony Erha, Founder/President of FA-R3, thanked Prince Agba, for his love for the entertainment industry and for touching Edo people with his development strides.

He also thanked Agba for his immense support to the activities of FA-R3, particularly for the support he gave its three previous major events.

The event, which had a galaxy of veteran artistes like Elder Omorogie (Mochico Bay), Chief Great Omoruyi, and others in attendance, also had Lady Patra, Peter the Rock Uwaifo and Dr. Bishop Omoigiade, Life Patron of Edo PMAN, perform with Prince Agba.
