
African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Akwa Ibom State has elected a new set of executives to steer the affairs of the party, with Prince Uwemedimo Essien emerging as State Chairman.
The elections were conducted after direct primaries held across ward and chapter centres in the state.
After a successful election, party officials and delegates described the process as orderly peaceful and transparent.
The exercise was overseen by an electoral committee chaired by Bassey Ewa, a former Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, alongside Secretary Tunde Lakoju, a former member of the House of Representatives from Edo State. They were supported by three other committee members from Akwa Ibom State.
Observers and delegates, who monitored the primaries commended the peaceful conduct of the election, congratulating the newly elected executives and urging them to remain committed to strengthening the party’s presence in the state.
Prince Essien, who hails from Abak Local Government Area, emerged chairman following the zoning of the position to the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
Other members of the newly elected executive include Solomon Johnny, a lawyer as Publicity Secretary, Mrs Immaculate Uko Uffia as State Secretary, Uduakobong Ignatius Asuquo as Youth Leader, Precious Effiong as Woman Leader, and Mkponbuk Nsien as Deputy Chairman, among others.
Meanwhile, delegates from Akwa Ibom State are expected to depart Uyo on Monday to participate in the ADC National Convention scheduled to hold on Tuesday.
