All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has unveiled its provisional timetable for the 2026 Anambra State Local Government primary elections, outlining key dates and procedures for aspirants seeking elective positions at the grassroots level.
The timetable was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Awka by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara. According to the statement, the schedule received approval in line with the provisions of APGA’s constitution and the electoral calendar released by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).
Under the timetable, the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will take place at the party’s Awka Regional Secretariat from January 27 to February 6.
The party also announced that the screening of chairmanship and councillorship aspirants will be conducted between February 7 and February 11 across the 21 local government areas and 326 wards in the state.
It further stated that appeals arising from the screening exercise would be considered and resolved on February 13, while ward congresses for the election of councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates are scheduled for February 14.
“The chairmanship primary election will hold on Feb. 15 while appeals arising from the primaries will be handled on Feb. 16, all in Awka, it stated.”
APGA fixed the cost of chairmanship nomination forms at N6 million, while councillorship forms were pegged at N600,000.00. The party noted that female aspirants and persons with disabilities would be granted a 50 per cent reduction in the prescribed fees.
The statement also clarified that all payments made for the forms are non-refundable and warned that the outlined dates remain subject to change if the need arises.
APGA, therefore, urged all intending aspirants to strictly adhere to the approved guidelines and comply fully with the party’s electoral regulations throughout the primary election process.
