Askira attack: Borno Dep Speaker mourns slain Brig. General, other soldiers, condoles with Army, families

The Deputy Speaker, Borno State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Engr Abddullahi Musa Askira has sympathized with the people of his constituency, Askira Emirate who are mourning the brutal killing of Brigadier General D. K. Zirkushu, the Commander of 28 Task Force Brigade in Chibok and other soldiers involved in the attack.

NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the fallen heroes died in an ambush by Boko Haram terrorists while trying to provide reinforcement to the troops under attack in sskira town.

Hon. Askira said the death of military personnel was a monumental loss to the entire country, Nigeria and its citizens.

The deputy speaker in a statement issued on Sunday in Maiduguri, described Brigadier General Zirkushu’s death as a tragic and monumental loss to Adamawa State in particular.

Engr. Askira further commiserated with the immediate family of the late Brigadier General, other officers and the Nigerian Army.

“As a state, we are pained by the tragic loss of this thorough breed officers. Brigadier Zirkushu’s death has robbed Nigeria of a dedicated and gallant officer who died when his service to the nation was most needed” Abdullahi Askira said.

“We are indeed pained that brigadier DK Zirkushu and other officers had to leave us in this manner but as a people of faith, we cannot question God. We can only pray for the peaceful repose of their souls.

“On behalf of the people and government of Askira/uba, i commended the effort of Nigerian Army, Air Force for putting up a strong resilience in a battle with fighters from the Islamic State of West Africa Province, who launched attacks on a military base in Askira town my constituency morning hours of today.

“I condole with Brigadier General DK Zirkushu, and other officers, immediate family, and the Nigerian Army.

“May the Almighty grant all us the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss”, the statement added
