The Chairman of the Association of Table Water Producers of Nigeria (ATWAP) Karu local Government Chapter, Mr.Usman Sani Diggi has called on members of the association to always ensure that clean and hygienic water is given to consumers at all times.
Mr. Diggi gave the advice during the opening ceremony of a one day workshop organised by the association of table water producers in conjunction with the Association of Container Owner of Nigeria (ACON) Karu Branch, Nasarawa State.
The chairman, who expressed the determination of the two associations to serve the Karu zone portable, safe and hygienic water in bottles and satchets, promised to work hard to justify the confidence members have reposed in him for the mandate of leading them and called on members of the public not to hesitate to report erring members for sanctions.
In his remarks, the representative of the Director General of the NAFDAC, Mr. Adubor Godswill, said the agency is fully committed to check all water producers and other manufacturers to ensure the safety of the consumers and punish those found wanting with appropriate sanctions.
In his remarks, the consultant to the Karu Local Government Council on sanitation, Mr. Joseph Nor, described the workshop as critical and apt as 18 percent of diarrhea cases are caused due to unsafe water.
Mr. Nor pledged to advise producers of table water on safety measures and check erring members for sanctioning.
