Bauchi budgets N213bn for 2021 Fiscal Year

Bauchi state government said it has proposed a budget of N213 billion for the 2021 Fiscal Year.

The Budget and Economic Planning Commissioner, Dr. Aminu Gamawa, told journalists at a press conference on the outcome of the state Executive Council Meeting presided over by the State Governor, Bala Mohammed, which held at the Bauchi State Goverment House on Tuesday.


Gamawa said that the budget christened, “Budget of Consolidation” comprises of N120 billion Capital Expenditure which represents 56 percent and a Recurrent Expenditure of N93.1 billion representing 44 percent of the total amount budgeted.


According to him, the budget will focus on four key areas comprising of Administration, Economy, Law and Justice and the Social Sector.
He said that in the education sector,  one Secondary School will be renovated in each Local Government Area and a staff quarters.


He added that in the Health sector, the government will renovate a general hospital and provide drugs in each LGA.


The Commissioner also said that the government is targeting other areas and will complete ongoing projects especially road constructions.

He said that from the recurrent expenditure, funds have been proposed so that all the arrears of pension and gratituities will be cleared.


He also said that the recurrent expenditure has been reduced and the capital expenditure increased to provide infrastructure for the benefit of the people.


Gamawa pointed out that the proposed budget is a product of Public hearing held in the three Senatorial Districts of the state and submitions from Ministries, Departments and Agencies and other relevant stakeholders.

Recall that Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed had, on November 9th, 2020, signed a supplementary budget of N42.8 billion into law.
