
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has extended an invitation to investors from the South-East region to explore the state’s abundant business and investment opportunities.
The governor made this call during the unveiling of the Bauchi State Economic and Investment Summit ceremony in Enugu.
The summit, scheduled for October 8-9, 2025, aims to review the state’s economy and determine the private sector’s potential contribution to its expansion.
Unlocking Investment Potentials
The governor emphasized that the summit would facilitate engagements between public and private project initiators, as well as foreign and local investors.
He highlighted the importance of developing genuine areas of shared prosperity and forging new economic and socio-political relations based on mutual benefits.
The state’s determination to encourage private investment is evident in the legal framework put in place to enable the development of priority and high-impactful sectors.
Investment Opportunities in Bauchi
The Bauchi State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Investment, Mohammed Gamawa, revealed that the state offers investment opportunities in energy, solid minerals, agriculture, gas and oil, hospitality, and more. The state boasts a large number of cattle, goats, sheep, and various types of poultry production. Additionally, Bauchi State has a renewable energy potential, large mineral resources, and ICT opportunities that South-East investors can explore.
Professor Murtala Sagagi of Dangote Business School, Bayero University Kano, stated that Bauchi State has over 130 investment opportunities and 10 sub-sectors that would yield high returns on investment.
The former Minister of Power and Chairman of the event, Professor Chinedu Nebo, emphasized that government alone cannot salvage the economy of a nation, but private sector investment can.
Executive Secretary of the South-East Business and Investment Summit, Dr. Ifedi Okenwa, commended Governor Bala Mohammed’s investment-focused governance and expressed confidence in partnering with Bauchi State.
The President of the South-East Chamber of Commerce, Humphrey Ngonadi, represented by Dr. Daniel Ochi, Director-General of the chamber, pledged to partner with Bauchi State and mobilize members to invest in the state.
