ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi –


No fewer than five suspects who allegedly kidnapped a man and his two daughters and collected N2 million as ransom have been arrested by the Police in Bauchi.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Bauchi on Wednesday evening.


He said that the suspects also allegedly stole the man’s new motorcycle valued at N250, 000. 00 and a Nokia handset valued at N7,000.

Wakil, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said: “On the 22nd September, 2020 at about 11.00am, one Ashiru Alh. Munkaila, Male of Unguwar Yamma in Burra town in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi state, came to the Burra Police Station and reported that on the same date at about 2am, some unknown armed men stormed the house of his master, one Alh. Shano, Male of Dabar Baga village, in the outskirt of Burra and kidnapped two of his Daughters: Aisha Alh. Shano (10) and Hauwa Alh. Shano (11) all of the same address.


“They also made away with his new Bajaj motorcycle valued at N250, 000. 00 and a Nokia handset valued at N7,000 to an unknown destination. 

“Upon receipt of the report, a team of Policemen was drafted to the scene. One empty shell of single barrel was recovered at the scene. 


“Also, on 28th September, 2020, the same hoodlums came back and kidnapped their father Alh. Shano and collected N2 million as ransom.

“Upon preliminary investigation, the following suspects: Shehu Bello, (25), Isah Alh. Ilya, (20), Ado Ahmadu, (28) of Gomo Burra Ningi L.G.A, Mal. Kabiru Alh. Bello, (37) of Basara Burra, Ningi L.G.A and Rabiu Mani (37) of Burra Ningi L.G.A, all males, were arrested in connection with the case.”


He said that three suspects Gambo Maikudi, Ibrahim Ubale and Abdulaziz Tasiu are still at large pointing out that all efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects.
The Command’s Spokesman said that a habitual criminal who specializes in armed robbery and who is currently standing trial for two other offences he committed in 2018 and 2020 was also arrested.

“On the 3rd October, 2020 at about 4am, Chairman vigilante, Magama village came to Divisional headquarters Toro and reported that on the same date at about 1am, one Abubakar Sadiq, Male, (25) of Ludduga village Toro L.G.A, who was armed with a stick, hammer and knife, stormed the houses of one Sani Hussaini, Sale Yahaya and Abubakar Madaki, all of Bargan Fulani Toro L.G.A and robbed them of N5,700. 


“The said Abubakar Sadiq is a habitual criminal presently on trial in court for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in 2018 and more recently unlawful possession of firearm in May 2020 both which he was granted bail by the Court,” he stated.


The PPRO said that the suspect has equally made a voluntarily statement to the Police.
Wakil noted that the Commissioner of Police in the State, Lawan Jimeta, has ordered for the immediate transfer of the cases to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation after which suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.
