The Bauchi State Government has again reiterated its commitment to lifting the embargo placed on employment in the state particularly, in the health sector.
The Deputy Governor, Senator Baba, stated this at the 2021 Primary Health Care Retreat of the Stakeholders, with the theme “Towards building a sustainable and resilient primary health care system in Bauchi state” which held on Wednesday in Gombe.
NATIONAL ACCORD reports that stakeholders at the retreat include traditional and religious leaders, development partners, Federal, state and local government officials in the health sector among others.
He said the state government has priority in the implementation of programmes that would improve health care delivery in the state.
Tela said: “We are working on the verification exercise report to see that the health care system gets more human resources in the state.
“The administration is committed to health care delivery that is why the state had settled the outstanding counterpart fund with partners to the tune of N350 million.”
He urged the stakeholders to deliberate and come out with robust policy and programme that would strengthen the health care sector in the state.
The Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr Sama’ila Dahuwa said the state government needs policies and programmes that would drive opportunities for sustaining the primary health care system in the state.
He said considering primary health care service which provide basic health care to over 80% of the citizens, adding that the lack of sustainability of PHCs would dampen the productivity of the health care system and delivery in the state.
Dahuwa assured that the retreat would provide opportunity for stakeholders to brainstorm and come up with a valuable programme for effective health care delivery for the citizens in the state.
On his part, Alhaji Bashir Maidabino, representative of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has Commended the Bauchi State Government for committing to a sustainable primary health care system.
He urged governments and stakeholders to take ownership of the community health services, which he said would improve sustainability and effective health care delivery.
Maidabino also called on the stakeholders to use the retreat to produce programmes and projects that would strengthen primary health Care services to the citizens.
