Blackout looms as electricity workers commence indefinite strike Wednesday

The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has directed workers in the Power sector to down tools and commence an indefinite strike over pending labour issues with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The industrial action which will further worsen the nation’s electricity supply is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

The General Secretary of NUEE, Joe Ajaero, disclosed this in a circular issued on Monday, which was titled “Call for Action”, to Senior Assistant General Secretaries and  Zonal Organising Secretaries.

As a prelude to the strike, NUEE in the circular noted that the aggrieved workers are scheduled to picket the Abuja national Headquatres of TCN Tuesday.
