The Acting Governor of Borno State, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur has paid a condolence visit to the people of Ajari village in Mafa Local Government Area, who were recently attacked by Boko Haram insurgents around 1 AM on Sunday night.
While sympathizing with the community, Alhaji Kadafur urged them to consider the incident as an act of God and remain steadfast in offering prayers for peace to return to the state.
He also directed the Commissioner for The State’s Ministry of Reonstruction Rehabilitation and Reconciliation, to immediately renovate the destroyed houses and restore water supply as soon as possible.
The Acting Governor, who said the villagers were traumatized from the attack, encouraged them to remain steadfast and go about their normal life, while assuring them that security would be fortified in the area.
He reiterated that the present administration is determined to provide the people with basic social amenities as well as secure lives and properties.
He said: “This can not be possible without the support of the people in providing timely information to security personnel”.
The acting governor, further, advised them to always remain resilient in the defence of their own communities, stressing that security personnels cannot solely provide them with adequate protection.
On his part, The Secretary of Mafa LGA, who briefed the Acting Governor of the current situation, said six civilians and two security personnel were killed while nine blocks of houses and vehicles were burnt down.
Special prayers were offered during the condolence visit for the families of those who were killed during the attack.
The Acting Governor later addressed security personnel including hunters and CJTF on the need to be always on alert for the protection of the area against further possible attac, while assuring them of adequate support from the state’s government.
He offered a cash assistance to security personnel in the area with the promise that all their problems would be look into and addressed as soon as possible.
The Acting Governor was accompanied by The Commissioners of Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Justice, Finance, Commerce and Sports. Others are special advisers Local Government Secretaries and politicians among others.
