Deputy Governor of Borno State, His Excellency Alh. (Dr) Umar Usman Kadafur, bid farewell to the first batch of Borno State pilgrims as they departed for the Holy Land this morning aboard the inaugural flight for the 2025 Hajj exercise.
Speaking at the Maiduguri International Airport during the early morning departure, the Deputy Governor expressed gratitude to Allah for granting the pilgrims the opportunity to fulfill one of the pillars of Islam.
He urged the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Borno State and Nigeria, and to conduct themselves with discipline, patience, and devotion throughout the pilgrimage.
He also prayed for a safe journey to and from the Holy Land and asked Allah to accept their acts of worship. The first flight carried 315 pilgrims, with subsequent flights scheduled over the coming days to convey the remaining contingent.
The event was attended by Dist. Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan, Senator representing Borno Central at the National Assembly, officials of the Borno State Hajj Commission, religious leaders, family members, and security personnel who ensured a smooth and orderly departure process.
