Borno Govt commended for implementing new minimum wage of N70,000

The Borno State Government has successfully implemented the new national minimum wage of N70,000 for all civil servants in the state.
The Chairman of the Technical and Implementation Committee, Dr. Engineer Babagana Malunbe, who disclosed this while addressing journalists at the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Conference Room on Monday, said the implementation will improve living standards, boost morale, and stimulate economic growth in the state.
Dr. Malunbe, who is also the Borno State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, commended the support and efforts of Governor Babagana Zulum, despite challenges such as flood disasters and insurgency.
He said,” I am the Chairman of the Borno State Minimum wage inaugurated on 4th September, 2024 to discuss the modalities for the implementation of the new national minimum wage in the state. “
“I am highly delighted today to inform you the successful completion of the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage for all categories of Borno State civil servants.
“This is yet another significant milestone for our state and a testament to the commitment of Engr Prof Babagana Umara Zulum CON, MNI, FNSE, FNIAE the Executive Governor to the welfare of his workforce.
“Let me use this opportunity to appreciate the Executive Governor for all the support and political will for the successful completion of this task.
“The implementation process was collaborative effort and commitment of all my members in particular the Head of Service,-other embers
labor leaders, the technical team, the state controller of labor and all other relevant
stakeholders for their dedication to see the smooth and efficient implementation of the new wage structure.
“The implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage will have a positive impact on the lives of Borno State civil servants and their families, especially , key benefits like
Improved Living Standards:
” This increase will enable cushion the effect of subsidy removal and significantly improve the living standards of our civil servants and their families.
“The implementation of the new minimum wage demonstrates the Government’s recognition of the invaluable contributions of the civil servants and this will insha Allah we-believe-will make them more productive and boost their morals,” Mallunbe said
The State Commissioner added that it will also results in infusion of additional income into the local economy will stimulate economic growth and development in the state by boosting the state economy.
Similarly, the Chairman noted that the successful implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage is a significant achievement for the Borno State Government and the state will remain committed to the welfare of workforce and continue to explore ways to improve their working condition while thanking all for the cooperation and support throughout the process.
