BUK VC commends Borno varsity’s management over outstanding physical development, academic facilities

The Vice-Chancellor, Bayero University Kano, Prof. Sarki Abbas has commended the leadership of Borno State University Maiduguri for the tremendous physical development and rapid establishment of academic structures and facilities in the institution within a short period of time.

He also assured a fruitful and positive academic and non academic partnership between the two varsities while expressing his delight to be in Borno State University.

Professor Abbas made this known on Wednesday, when he paid a visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Borno State University (BOSU), Prof. Umar Kyari Sandabe and recieved by the VC Representative, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Prof, Haruna Dlakwa .

The BUK VC, however described the relationship between Bayero University Kano and Borno State University as promising while stressing that BUK is ever ready to render assistance to the Borno State University because of the level of development he saw in the state’s university which he said is beyond his expectation.

Prof. Abbas expressed willingness to partner with BOSU in terms of staff exchange, visitation and other academic and non-academic programs, while expressing his confidence that BOSU and BUK will have a mutual beneficial relationship in years to come.

He equally exalted the qualities of Prof Ibrahim Mohammed, describing him as a gentle man.

The DVC Academics, BOSU, Prof, Haruna Dlakwa who received the august visitor, apologized for the absence of the VC BOSU, who accompanied the Governor of Borno State , Prof. Babagana Umara Zullum to Lagos and thanked the visitor for the visit and installation of the Television program on the campus.

He further appreciated the BUK VC for his institution’s effort towards the establishment of Centre for Kanuri and Qur’anic Studies and also welcomed the idea of staff exchange and other academic programs between the two varsities.

He said that Borno State University started two years ago with just four faculties and 600 students but currently has about 2,700 students.

” BOSU is planning to apply for approval of College of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Engineering as well as seeking for assistance from BUK in due time.

After the brief discussion, the DVC, BOSU toured his visitor round the university campus structures and facilities among others .
