Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday visited troops at the Nkwagu Military Cantonment, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, where he directed officers and soldiers to sustain the fight against security threats and remain fully committed to protecting lives and property across the South East.
During the operational visit, Shaibu commended the troops for their discipline, resilience and dedication to duty, urging them not to relent in ongoing operations.
He reminded them of the need to remain vigilant, discharge their responsibilities professionally and uphold the rights of citizens while carrying out their assignments.
The Army Chief also inspected key facilities within the cantonment, including the Military Hospital and troops’ accommodation, stressing that the welfare of personnel would continue to receive attention as part of efforts to keep the force motivated and effective.
Earlier, commanders briefed the COAS on the security situation, ongoing operations, achievements recorded and other operational requirements.
After the briefing, Shaibu expressed satisfaction with the progress made and encouraged troops to continue working closely with other security agencies and host communities to strengthen security across Ebonyi State and the wider South East.
The visit formed part of the Army Chief’s operational engagements aimed at assessing the readiness of troops and monitoring activities in formations across the country.
