
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum interacting with corps members in Biu
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum on Tuesday released over ₦10 million to NYSC corps members and staff of the Biu Zonal Office as welfare support to encourage them to give their best during their national service across Southern Borno. The announcement was made at the palace of the Emir of Biu.
The governor announced a cash support of ₦50,000 each to about 200 serving corps members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the Biu Zonal Office.
He further announced a cash donation of ₦200,000 each to two nursing corps members and ₦100,000 each to some staff of the Biu NYSC Zonal Office.
Zulum said his administration would continue to support and encourage corps members by empowering Nigerian youths to serve their fatherland and excel in their places of primary assignment.
He added that investing in youth development programmes is vital for rebuilding livelihoods and promoting sustainable economic recovery across the state.
According to him, the financial support is part of his government’s commitment to improving the welfare of corps members and encouraging them to serve effectively and contribute their quota in their respective places of primary assignment.
“I heareby announce the sum of N50, 000 to all corps member present here today and have also directed that the money be credited to your bank accounts today,” Zulum said.
The NYSC corps members pledged to work hard and contribute their quota to the development of Borno State, especially during their primary assignments in their host communities.
Zulum later visited the Emir of Biu, His Royal Highness, Mai Umar Mustapha Aliyu, at his palace to pay homage and intimate the Emir on his working visit to Southern Borno.
The royal father appreciated the visit and commended the governor for his commitment to the development of Southern Borno through a series of developmental and people-oriented projects and programmes.
He assured the governor of his continued support and loyalty to the government while praying for lasting peace in the state and the region at large.
The governor was accompanied by top government officials, APC leaders, supporters, members of the National and State Assemblies, as well as local government council officials from Southern Borno.
