COAS urges Katsina residents to furnish security agencies with correct information on criminals

COAS Faruk Yahaya made the call when he paid homage to the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk at his palace in Daura, Katsina.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen Faruk Yahaya, has called on Katsina residents to assist security agencies with correct information on criminals.

The COAS, who made the call when he paid homage to the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk at his palace in Daura, said that providing such information would help in tackling insecurity in their areas.

According to him, the criminals were members of the society who mingled with people in the market and other places, and, therefore, it would not be difficult for the people to provide the security agencies with correct information about them and their hideouts in the communities.

The issue of security is not a one man business, Yahaya said, while explaining that the Army was also collaborating with other sister agencies in tackling the security challenges.

Yahaya also appealed to the Emir to continue to support the military and other security agencies by mobilising his people on the importance of providing correct information.

“Our efforts in tackling the issue of insecurity in Nigeria can not be achieved without providing us with necessary information about the criminals.

“We will not relent until we ensure that our people sleep with their two eyes closed. That is why we embarked on this operational tour to boost the troops’ morale”, he said.

Responding, the Emir commended the efforts of the COAS towards boosting the morale of the troops, saying that such efforts would give them more confidence.

The Emir further assured him of the Emirate council’s support, so that the struggle against insecurity would be achieved.

The security of the country is very important, the Emir observed, saying: ”I have confidence that you will never fail President Muhammad Buhari’s effort over the security of the country”.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the COAS had on Thursday paid a similar visits to Gov. Aminu Bello-Masari and the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmuminu Kabir-Usman. (NAN)
