
Tor Tiv, Prof James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse

The Governing Council of Akperan Orshi Polytechnic Yandev, Gboko has sought for royal blessings and wise counsel from the paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, HRM Tor Tiv Professor James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse.
The Governing Council was led by its Chairman, Dr Victoria Pila to the palace of the Tor Tiv.
A statement by Special Assistant to Tor Tiv on Media and ICT, Freddie Adamgbe quoted Dr Pila as informing the Tor Tiv that they had embarked on a familiarization tour of the Polytechnic in Yandev and considered it imperative to pay homage on the on him to receive his Royal blessings and wise counsel to achieve better results in the assignment Governor Hyacinth Alia bestowed on them.
The council chairman, according to the statement enumerated the multifarious challenges confronting the Polytechnic which included lack of funding, plight of casual staff yet to be regularized , unaccredited programs, enrollment among others.
The Chairman the statement continued averred that the Polytechnic was at a crossroad but the council was determined to do its best to the Polytechnic to meet global standards as they have identified these major hurdles that have thwarted the development of the institution.
In his remarks, the Rector of the Polytechnic Dr Simon Iorchor who led the council members with his management to the Tor Tiv palace stated that he has the confidence in the calibre of people Governor Hyacinth Alia has selected noting that their coming on board would make a tremendous impact.
In his response the Tor Tiv, Orcivirigh Ayatse regretted that the school which was the pride of Benue State has now been at cross road but assured the Council of the full support of the traditional institution to bounce back to full life
While rating the chairman of the Governing Council’s appointment as befitting and on merit, the Begha u Tiv said it behooves him to take the Polytechnic serious since it is located in the traditional headquarters of Tiv nation and named after the late Tor Tiv Akperan Orshi.
The paramount ruler counseled both the governing Council and the management team of the Polytechnic to explore all available means and salvage the institution.
Other embers of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic in addition to the Chairman includes Mr Samuel Agwa, Mr Joseph Adi, Mr Nicholas Ugallahi, and Theresa Ikwue.
There are other statutory members churned from ministries and internal members from within the Polytechnic.
