A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has reserves judgement in a criminal charge of N805m money laundering levelled against Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, till April 19, 2021.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC arraigned Senator Peter Nwaoboshi along with two companies alleged to have been the instrument used to perpetrate the allegations.
The two limited liability companies are, Golden Touch Construction Project Limited and Suiming Electrical Limited.
The presiding judge, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, gave the date after hearing the adoption of final written addresses by counsels representing all the defendants and the prosecutor.
Adopting their final written addresses, counsel to the EFCC, Wemimo Ogunde SAN, urged the court to adjudge the defendants guilty as charged and apply the necessary law.
On his part, Counsel to Senator Nwaoboshi, Mr Jimoh Lasisi, SAN, told the court that they have filed a reply, dated 8th February 2021, adopted the written address as their own argument and urged the court to discharge the first defendant Peter Nwaoboshi
Contributing, Charles Nmarkwe appearing for the second defendant, Golden Touched Construction Project Limited, also told the court that he has filed a response dated 5th February 2021 and adopted the same as his own submission and urged the court to discharge and acquit the second defendant.
Similarly, Mr Onyebuchi Aniakor representing the third defendant, informed the court that he has filed a written address in support of preliminary objection filed before the court, dated 29th, January 2021, to challenge the competence of the charge, consequently, adopted the written address as well as the submission in support of the preliminary objection, thereafter, urged the court to dismiss the charge against the third defendant and acquitted it.
Senator Nwaoboshi representing Delta North Senatorial District, in Delta State, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge levelled against him.
