Cross River IGR rises from N1.9bn to N2.97bn – CRIRS chairman

The Chairman of Cross River State Internal Revenue Service (CRIRS), Edwin Okon has disclosed that the Service under his watch has recorded huge success within a short period.

Mr. Okon said the revenue generation from MDA recorded huge difference from N3.8b in 2022 to N6.8b in 2023.

He said this in a keynote address at an Interactive session and training on best practices for tax consultants, which was moderated by Lani Consulting in Calabar, Cross River State capital.

The CRIRS Chairman, who is a cooperate banker and a chartered accountant, said the revenue generation from the service also rose from N1.9b last year to N2.97b as at October 2023.

He stressed that the purpose of the stakeholders meetings is to hear from them so that they can proffer solution, adding that he is desirous to be part of the change.

He appealed to the stakeholders to support the Governor Bassey Otu to realize the budget for 2024.

The Chairman said from the budget for 2024, the state IRS is expected to generate N35b from N20b target of last year.

The Chairman disclosed that currently the Cross River State IRS has over generated N26b in 2023

The President of Calabar Chamber of Commerce, David Etim, said they remain committed to delivering service to the people.

“We are partners in progress to build a better society”, he said.
