Donald Duke loses polling unit as Sen. Bassey Otu maintains early lead

Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has lost his polling unit on Saturday to the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Bassey Otu with 111 votes while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had 54 votes.

Also, Governor Ben Ayade won his polling unit with 200 votes for his party and the senator elect for Cross River South, Asuquo Ekpeyong won his polling unit With 175 votes while Sandy Onor got only,19 votes.

So far 1,118 polling unit results have been declared in Calabar South. Out of 3,281 results collated, Senator Bassey Otu maintained 72 percent lead over his closet rival Senator Sandy Onor of PDP, who is trailing with 27 percent.

Also, report from Ogoja Obanliku and Yala Local Government Councils indicated that the deputy governorship candidate of APC, Peter Odey is leading the APC to victory in the Northern Senatorial district where the PDP hold sway over two decades.

Meanwhile, the deputy governorship candidate of PDP, Lady Amana Imawe had alleged that the election was characterized by intimidation and vote buying by the ruling party.

According to her there were glaring cases of intimidation in Akpabuyo and Bakassi local government Area.
