DSS arraigns 8 suspects in Unilorin rape and murder case

The Department of State Services, DSS on Wednesday arraigned eight suspects in the rape and murder case of Miss Blessing Olajide a 400 Level student of University of Ilorin.

The suspects, Akeeb Ismail, Oyeyemi Timilehin, Abdulkareem Shuaib, Kareem Rasheed, Lateef Rahman including – Daud Bashir, Akande Taiye and Ajala Moses are all facing an eleven count charge of conspiracy, rape, murder, aiding and abetting, receiving of stolen property amongst others.

While the first, fourth and fifth accused persons had a defense counsel in Shina Ibiyemi, the sixth and eighth persons had a counsel in Mr. L. O. Bello.

The trial was however stalled because the three other accused persons did not have a lawyer.

Two of them, however, accepted the offer of the government to provide a counsel for them while the other said he would source for legal service for himself.

The trial judge, Justice I.A. Yusuf, however, adjourned the case till Tuesday, July 6 2021 and the suspects remanded in prison custody.
