The Borno State police Command has ordered for the restriction of vehicular movement from 6:00Am to 11:00Am in other to ease free movement to and fro the praying ground during the Salah day
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Abdu Umar, who stated this in a statement also ordered that security be strengthened across the state capital and its environ before, during and after the Eid-el-fitr celebration.
He also directed all the formation Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Operational Commanders and all other Tactical Units of the force to ensure visibility patrol, crowd control and implementation of robust anti-crime prevention and control strategies in their respective areas of responsibilities to ensure adequate security of lives and properties.
The CP further directed them to also beef up security in the entire linking roads, entry and exit points, major highways, city centres, worship centres, recreational centres and other strategic locations in their areas.
“The Borno State Police Command is not unmindful of the volume of traffic occasioned by the Sallah holidays and we advised members of the public to cooperate with policemen deployed for traffic control duties to ease traffic congestion in the city centres”, the statement added.
He however warned policemen on stop and search operation as well as other crime prevention duties to be courteous, professional and avoid acts that may bring the Nigeria Police Force to disrepute while imploring members of the public, especially travelers and other road users to cooperate with the police personnel deployed on the highways and other duty posts across the state.
The statement further said subsequently, restriction of vehicular movement from 6:00Am to 11:00Am during the Sallah day is hereby declared to ease free movement to and fro the praying ground”.
“The general public particularly, the celebrants are advised to be at the praying ground as earlier as possible so as to avoid unnecessary conjunction and crowding.
” And for other security reasons. Equally parents/guardians should warn their wards/children against forming groups of gangs while constituting nuisance to the peace loving people of the state”.
The command, however, rejoiced with the Muslim community throughout the state on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-fitr celebration.
