FCT police kill two kidnappers in gun battle

Police have shot dead two kidnappers in the Naharati community, in Abaji Area Council, FCT.

They were killed during an exchange of gunfire with the police, who were aided by members of a vigilante group, when they attempted to abduction 4 persons in the area, including a minor.

The persons kidnapped were identified as Abdullahi Umar, Abdulkarim Yusuf, Abubakar Umar and 13-year-old Abdulrahman Isah.

The spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf said the kidnappers died while being taken to the hospital.

A resident told newsmen that a large number of armed men besieged Anguwar Hausawa, broke into some houses and abducted 4 people.

Before the arrival of security, they shot into the air, to scare people in order to escape, he added.

Normalcy has however returned to the area.
