FG commences N560m water works projects in Monguno

From SADIQ ABUBAKAR, Maiduguri –

In its efforts to address the problem of water scarcity occasioned by the influx of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to Monguno, headquarters of Monguno Local Government Area of Borno state as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency, the Federal Government has,commenced the construction of N560 million water Works projects in the town.

The project is being carried out through  the Federal Constituency Project  of the Member representing Monguno, Marte and Nganzai Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon.  Barrister Mohammed Tahir Monguno.

Receiving Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state at the site of the water works at the weekend, the project Engineer, Engr Ba’ale Bura said “the project which was award at the cost of N560 million will consist of 2 middle aquifer borehole and 3 lower aquifer borehole with 2 million litres ground reservoir and one million over head tank and reticulation of the water networks across the town.”

“When completed the Monguno water works project will not only address the water scarcity in the town occasioned by the influx of the IDPs but provide potable and clean water to all inhabitant of the town,”  Bura said.

While appreciating the efforts of the Federal lawmaker, MT Monguno who is also the Chief Whip  of the  House of Representatives, Zulum said, “this water works when completed will address the water scarcity in Monguno and its environs.”

“We really appreciate President Bubari for approving the project, the minister of water resources for releasing the fund and the Chief whip of the green chamber for conceiving the project as part of your constituency project, the people of Monguno and Borno state at large will remain grateful to you all,” Zulum said.

In his remarks,  Hon. Tahir Monguno thanked his colleagues at the National Assembly and the Hon. Rt. Speaker, Femi Gbajamila for supporting him to actualize this as part of his constituency project.

“I want thank the speaker, Right Honorable Femi Gbajams and others colleagues for seeing reason for me to actualize this project. I want use this medium to assure my constituency members that I will continue to bring more of such projects by the Grace of God,” Monguno said.
