FG urged to increase funding of research in Nigeria

The Vice-Chancellor of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Muhmed has called on the Federal Government to provide budgetary allocation to Nigerian Universities to enable them effectively fund research in the country.

Professor Bala Muhammed, noted that adequate funding of research in Nigeria tertiary institutions would enable it to proffer solutions to the numerous challenges bedeviling the nation.

He made the call yesterday while declaring open the 6th Annual Research, Fair and Exhibition organised by the Nasarawa State University, Keffi which took place at the Assembly Hall of the university.

The Vice-Chancellor commended members of the university community and all the participants as well as guests that came from all over the country to participate in the two days research fair and exhibition.

He pledged to sustain the hosting of the annual event which provides opportunity for those carrying out research and those in the enterprenuership to showcase their talents and announced awards to participants that excelled in their exhibitions.

In his vote of thanks, the Registrar of the university Mr. Bala Muhammed said the 6th Annual Research, Fair and Exhibition occupies a strategic position in the life of university society in general.

He commended the Vice Chancellor for creating an enabling environment for academic and business activities to thrive on the campus.
