Fubara’s victory reaffirmation of Rivers as PDP stronghold – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Mr Siminalayi Fubara, and FCT Minister,.Nyesome Wike

Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers described the victory of the Governor-elect, Siminalayi Fubara, as a reaffirmation of the state as one of the premier strongholds of the party.

Wike said this in a statement issued by Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr Kelvin Ebiri, on Tuesday in Port Harcourt.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Wike stated this shortly after Fubara’s announcement as winner of the 2023 governorship election by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday.

The governor said that in spite of the criticism of Fubara’s victory by the opposition, PDP had consistently won all the governorship elections in the state since 2015.

The governor, who said he was excited with the outcome of the election, added that the state would continue to remain pivotal to the successes of PDP.

He dedicated the electoral victory of the party at the just- concluded general elections to God and the people of the state.

Wike commended party stalwarts in the state for remaining steadfast in defence of the state since he assumed office in 2015.

“Let me thank all of you for the support you have given us, how you stood firm to make sure that we defend what is Rivers’.

”In 2015, we did it; in 2019, we did it and in 2023, we have done it again. So, it is not surprising. God has always been with us,” he said. (NAN)
