General Eyitayo takes over the leadership of Nigeria Army 7 Division, Maiduguri

The new Acting GOC, Brigadier General Abdulwahab Adelakun Eyitayo.

The out going General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, Nigerian Army Headquarters Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Major General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim, on Monday handed over the leadership of the command to the new Acting GOC, Brigadier General Abdulwahab Adelakun Eyitayo.

The handing over ceremony which took place at the 7 Division Headquarters, Maiduguri was followed by a parade from troops and flagging down and up of the officers flag of command.

In his remark, the outgoing GOC, Major General Ibrahim called on the troops to continue to be hardworking and be dedicated to their responsibilities, while urging them to remained calm, disciplined as well as committed to their jobs.

The General appealed to the troops to extend their loyalty and cooperation to the incoming GOC whom he described as a war officer who has wide range of experience and knowledge of the division and theater as well.

He assured them that he would maintain contact with them and would not hesitate to make himself available in case of any need or support from his new post.

In an interview with journalists, the outgoing GOC expressed confidence in his successor and urged the media to support him into performing effectively.

While the new Acting General Officer Commanding, Brigadier General Abdulwahab Adelakun Eyitayo charged the troops to always show their doggedness and bravery at the battle field and ensure that they end the war and achieve the mandate given by the COAS Ibrahim Attahiru and President Muhammadu Buhari.

He also pledged to work with the troops as a team, while stressing out that he would detailed them accordingly in future as he visits the unit commanders of the division.

Brig. -Gen. Eyitayo, however solicited for the support and cooperation of the media and troops as well as the officers of the command to enable him discharge his duties effectively and efficiently .
