By ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi –

The Kano-Maiduguri expressway has been cut off by a heavy downpour between Malori and Guskuri Villages in Katagum Local Government area of Bauchi State.

The destruction has rendered the road impassable, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes to get to their destinations.

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who visited the affected area for an on-the-spot assessment on Thursday, emphasized the importance of the road, which serves as a critical link between the Northwest and Northeast regions of the country.

He appealed to the Federal Government to urgently intervene and repair the damaged road to ease transportation of goods and services for the overall benefit Nigerians.

The Governor said that the urgent intervention by federal government is necessary to prevent carnage on the highway and other hardships.

Mohammed added that his administration would work out modalities to maintain some of Federal Government roads in the state as the rainy season continues to pose danger to them.
