Following the killing of an unnamed woman in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area during “an incident”, the Bauchi State Government has warned against reprisals.

The Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Ibrahim Kashim, who gave the warning in a statement he signed which was made available to journalists on Tuesday, condemned the killing and described it as “dastardly and infamous.”

Although it was not stated exactly what the incident was, the government however said that security agents have begun investigations into the matter and have successfully arrested some suspects in connection with the incident.

Kashim who said that the incident was disheartening and was orchestrated by “forces of darkness”, is coming at a time when government was working hard to secure lives and properties of citizens of the state.

“The State Government is in receipt of Security Report from Tafawa Balewa Local Government of an incident that claimed the life of an innocent woman.

“This dastardly and infamous act, which we strongly condemn, is coming at a time when the present administration is working assiduously to consolidate on the successes made in providing Security to our people.

“It is disheartening that this achievement is being threatened by forces of darkness, who are hell-bent on unleashing mayhem on unsuspecting members of the public,” he said.

While condemning the act, he assured that “let it be unequivocally stated that Government will continue to work with Security Agencies in order to provide sustainable peace across the State.

“The Security forces have commenced investigations into the matter and some arrests have been made.”

The SSG therefore called on the people of the state to “remain calm and resist the temptation of taking the laws into their hands.”

He urged them to assist security agencies by providing useful information that will help to crackdown the criminals.

“Finally, we assure the public that no stone will be left unturned in unearthing, arresting and dealing with the culprits decisively in accordance with the law.

“Government will continue to discharge its primary responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizenry,” he assured.
