As the rape scourge reaches a pandemic level in Nigeria with heavy casualties consequent upon which many people are still calling for stiffer laws against offenders, one of Nigeria’s newest sensations in Nollywood and reigning Queen of the industry, Maria Shinaan Jijingi, maintains that castration remains the best option.

According to the upwardly-mobile and delectable actress who dream of becoming a celebrity blossomed in her secondary days, the argument that female offenders would be left out if castration was adopted by the National Assembly does not hold water because they are very rare.

“Out of the three thousand-plus cases that were recorded in recent times, how many of them were perpetrated by the females against men. Rape is synonymous with men. And where a female is involved it’s never violent, unlike their male counterparts who always shake and break the table each time they strike,’’ she observed.

She stated that if castration is adopted forthwith, men who rape for whatever reasons would be scared as they stand the risk of being rendered useless in life if apprehended. The ladies, she suggested, should be given commensurate punishment.

“Many people [ladies] have been killed, maimed or rendered useless in the process of carrying out the wicked act and Maria believes that the culprits cannot be treated with kid gloves any longer. Some men are simply terrible and can go to any length to achieve their selfish interest. Twice I was tried right from my secondary school days but God was on my side as I escaped unscathed. So, I know what it means and how traumatic it can be,” she said

For those who don’t know, the beautiful actress waltzed into the showbiz world a few years back as a fresher from secondary school when she emerged as the 2nd Runner-Up in a beauty contest ‘’Miss Integration Beauty Pageant’’, a contest between bordering countries which took place in the city of Idiroko, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Inside Nollywood where she is more attached currently, she has been making a lot of inroads and starred in such hit movies as ‘’Kill the Councillor’’, ‘’Bring them Down’’, ‘’Queen Makeba’’ and others.

Last year, she was crowned the Queen of Nollywood, Benue State Chapter at a well attended ceremony witnessed by the industry’s movers and shakers and others.
