By SADIQ ABUBAKAR, Maiduguri-

Worried by the incessant killings across the country, the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Borno State Chapter, has joined its National body in a special prayer session for God’s intervention for an end to the lingering insecurity bedeviling the country.

The special prayer session brought together The Women Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Federation of Muslim Women of Nigeria (FOMWAN) among other women groups in Borno State, where they cried out for God’s mercy and healing upon Nigeria.

The women who wore red outfit, signifying “no to blood sheds”, also display placards with different inscription, calling for calmness and peace in Nigeria.

Responding, The Commissioners of Women Affairs, Zuwaira Gambo and The Commissioner for Animal and Fisheries Development, Comrade Juliana Bitrus, respectively appreciated NAWOJ for the solemn assembly, while noting that their prayers would not go unanswered, because God has a special empathy for women.

On her part, the chairperson of NAWOJ, Hadiza Bukar, urged mothers not to relent in prayers until God answers and restores peace in Nigeria.

“NAWOJ Borno believe and hope that God’s mercy would prevail over the land and stop the unrest in Nigeria”, she said.
