Kadafur Inuagurates BOSIEC Chairman, 4 permanent commissioners

The newly appointed Chairman and four Permanent Commissioners of the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) were sworn-in today Wednesday by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Umar Kadafur at the Council Chamber of the office of the Deputy Governor.

The Deputy governor who presided over the administration of oath of allegiance and office by the representative of the State Chief Judge, Justice Babagana Karumi said the reconstitution of the commission’s management team became necessary at this crucial time towards improving the local government system which is one of the top most priority of the present administration because of its closeness to the people at the grassroots.

He said the new chairman and permanent Commissioners were selected based on their track records of experience and meritorious service to the people and state.

Hon. Kadafur urged them to be transparent and fair to all in conducting the LGCs elections in the future.

It would be recalled that the tenure of the former chairman and four permanent commissioners has expired and the need to filled the vacuum created became necessary.

The newly sworn-in chairman and members include – Alhaji Lawan Maina Mahmud, and a retired Permanent Secretary and Member of Borno Emirate Council as Chairman, Zanna Ali Garga as Member, Barr. Ahmadu Betera Aliyu, Mohammed Zanna Mu’azu and Hussain Kachallah as Members.

The Chairman, Alhaji Lawan Mahmud thanked the State Governor for giving them the opportunity to serve the state in this capacity and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them by adhering strictly to the functions of the commission.

Meanwhile, Hon. Kadafur has also inaugurated members of the Borno state Road safety advisory council.

The deputy governor, while inaugurating the committee charged them to rededicate themselves to public service and carry out their assignments diligently and successfully.

He also urged e them to leave up to expectations and justify the confidence reposed in them.

The members of the Borno State Road Safety Advisory Council include:

( 1 ) Deputy Governor – Council Chairman
( 2 ) Commissioner of Transport – Member
( 3 ) Commissioner of Work – Member
( 4 ) Commissioner of Health – Member
( 5 ) Commissioner of Justice – Member
( 6 ) Commissioner of Education – Member
( 7 ) Commissioner of Finance – Member
( 8 ) Commissioner of Environment – Member
( 9 ) State Planning Commission – Member
( 10 ) Nigeria Society of Engineers ( NSE ) – Member
( 11 ) FRSC Sector Commander – Member Secretary.
