Katsina State High Court says it has embarked on visitation tour to correctional centers across the state with a view to decongesting them.

The State Chief Judge, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar stated this at the new correctional center Jibia Road Katsina.

Justice Danladi Abubakar said the visit will enable correctional facilities across the state to have manageable space and the number of inmates in line with Covid 19 protocols.

He pointed out that 20 suspects awaiting trial at the facility were granted bail while two were released.

In a remark, the State Comptroller of the Nigeria Correctional Center Abdulmumini Haruna said inmates at the state facilities are trained and reformed before reintegrating them into the society.

He commended the Chief Judge for the exercise, saying that decongesting the facilities would enable them to discharge their duties efficiently.
