Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas presenting the APC flag to the newly elected state chairman, Abubakar Bawa
Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has urged the newly elected members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State to promote unity, fairness, and inclusiveness among all party members.
The state congress, which followed extensive consultations, was resolved through consensus.
The announcement of the elected officials began late on Tuesday, with Abubakar Bawa, a former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, emerging as the new APC chairman following his recent defection to the party.
Bawa, a close political associate of Governor Kefas, was among the prominent PDP leaders who joined the governor in defecting to the APC during the February 2, 2026 mega rally held in Jalingo.
The event was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, drawing a large crowd and marking a major political shift in the state.
While congratulating the newly elected SWC members and party faithful for conducting a peaceful and successful congress, Governor Kefas described the emergence of the new leadership as a major step toward strengthening the APC’s structure in Taraba State.
He advised the new executives to carry out their duties with dedication, transparency, and a strong sense of fairness, stressing that effective leadership would help attract more members to the party.
The governor, further, emphasized the importance of unity, grassroots engagement, and openness in building a strong and formidable political platform capable of meeting the aspirations of the people.
Kefas also assured party members that his administration would continue to promote inclusiveness, noting that every stakeholder would be given a sense of belonging in the party’s affairs.
He called on party loyalists to remain united and to support the new leadership as it works toward repositioning the APC for greater political success in Taraba State.
