Keffi Old Boys Association donates N1b to improve college infrastructure

Keffi Old Boys Association (KOBA) has generated the sum of one billion naira to renovate her alma mater’s infrastructures and academic activities of the college.

President of KOBA, Engineer Edward Ujege disclosed this on Friday during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association held at the premise of Government College Keffi, Nasarawa State.

Engr. Ujege noted that the current KOBA executives have taken drastic steps to improve the academic activities and revive the college’s infrastructures that are in a dilapidated condition.

One of the steps to achieve these objectives according to the President was to raise funds and to unite members which he said has started yielding fruitful results.

“The hosting of the 2021 annual general meeting is part of our efforts to bring together members. The football match between the old students and the present students was a deliberate step for members to come together, while a dinner and award night organised by Set 1983 to gave merit awards to deserving Nigerians that have distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavors was also done to unite members that have parted ways for a long time”, he said.

Earlier, while presenting the annual report titled: “The Success Story”, The Secretary General of KOBA, Mr. Sam Israel stated that the present executives of the association has recorded monumental achievements which includes the unification of members across the globe and the setting up of a National Secretariat for the association at the college premises to enable members interact at all times.

According to him, “the secretariat has been furnished with modern facilities while a solar power has also been installed to provide light at all times”. He added that a Whatsap group has also been set up to enable members interact and send in contributions.

The Secretary General, further, disclosed that an e-library will soon commence operations, as well as the renovation of old furniture, toilets and sporting facilities. Others include the restoration of electricity, water and the provision of matrasses and laboratory equipment.

High points of the award night was the presentation of merit awards to deserving Nigerians that have distinguished themselves in their various fields of human endeavors including the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Barr. Yusuf Musa, General Awali Kabir, Justice James Ugebe (Rtd) while the Governors of Nasarawa, Benue and Plateau states also received awards.
