Kyle Walker has officially retired from international football, ending a 14-year career with England, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.
The 35-year-old defender leaves the national team with 96 caps, just short of 100, stepping away months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
Walker shared his decision on Instagram, writing, “Playing for England has always been the biggest honour of my career and something I will always be proud of.
“Thank you to every team-mate, coach, manager, the 12th man, and everyone behind the scenes who has been part of the journey.
“Every roar from the fans pushed the team along and I’m looking forward to joining them to support the lads in the World Cup. The memories in an England shirt will stay with me forever.”
Since making his England debut in 2011, Walker has featured in five major tournaments, including the 2018 World Cup and the European Championship finals in 2021 and 2024.
Romano confirmed that Walker’s retirement brings to a close one of the most consistent and decorated defensive careers in recent England history.
Walker will continue his club career with Burnley FC in the Premier League, where he remains a key presence on the pitch.
