Mysterious fire guts Gajiganna Town of Magumeri LGA in Borno

Several houses, buildings as well as facilities have been completely razed down following a mysterious fire outbreak in the most populated Town of Gajiganna in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

It was learnt that the fire disaster which started at about 2 PM, was said to have been worsen by the strong wind.

According to an eyewitness, who is a Civilian JTF and resident of Gajiganna Town, Malam Hassan Musami told our correspondent on telephone that the inferno started from the roof of a house at the middle of a neighbourhood shortly after the Zuhr prayer amidst the scorching sun”.

“The fire outbreak became wild and was fast consuming other houses and structures because most of the neighbouring houses and structures are made of straw and grasses coupled with strong blowing wind”.

“The fire disaster rapidly spread to other parts of the Town quickly after overpowering residents who used water and sand to quench it, all to no avail”, Musami said.

According to him, as a result of the degree of the fire outbreak, several houses, shops and other valuables thing were razed down in the town which is located along Monguno Road which was once worst hit by the Boko Haram insurgents. .

NATIONAL ACCORD reliably gathered that the areas in the town worst hit by the inferno include: Gamboiri, Kangiri, Umara Misulali, Baare, Granbori, Tunjiram and Swindi neighbourhoods.

It would be recalled that a similar fire incident occurred at an IDPs camp in Maiduguri the state capital, last month around the Customs area of the metropolis.
